The Ultimate Cave Kayaking Adventure

Explore the entire 7 miles of underground cave system in comfortable, top-quality packable kayaks for this unique cave experience. Enjoy the sounds of wildlife as you kayak from darkness into open lush jungle and enter back into Xibalba on amazing turquoise waters and towering cave entrances, creating unlimited Kodak moments!

This unique tour starts from the Hummingbird Highway with a 30-minute drive in an open air 4 x 4 transport vehicle to the starting point. Once at the starting point, a safety briefing is completed and participants are geared to enter the first cave. After kayaking for about 1.5 hours, we have lunch at the exit of a cave by the riverside where you are welcome to take a refreshing swim. For lunch, we enjoy a delicious “cave burrito” with fresh flour tortillas, veggies, cheese and well prepared chicken meat (If you are vegetarian, you can have a veggie burrito).

Following lunch is a 20-minute portage. The portage is the section where the river goes underground and resurfaces downstream. For this section, we carry the lightweight kayaks through high canopy and into a cave opening where we continue downstream through the limestone cave system. We do not use the hard-shell kayaks, so the hike is moderate and your guides will also assist with the kayaks if necessary. Do not let anyone tell you the portage is too difficult because you will surely be missing out on this once in a lifetime experience.

Our Cave Kayaking tour includes a series of cave entrances and exits, with daylight “windows” at various places created by cenotes/sinks which allows you to experience Belize’s natural beauty and cultural heritage first-hand!

This exclusive Cave Kayaking adventure passes through the entire wet cave system starting at Cave’s Branch River on the Hummingbird Highway and exiting at Nohoch Cheʼen Archaeological Reserve, making this an all-day adventure.
